Claim: Ben Shapiro said the Epstein files is pretty close to zero on a list of American priorities

Verdict: True.

  • The post: The X post from @HotSpotHotSpot (February 6, 2026) said Ben Shapiro called the Epstein files "pretty close to zero" on a list of American priorities, with a clip of Shapiro at the Daily Wire desk.
  • The line: He said it on The Ben Shapiro Show episode 2234, "The REAL Jeffrey Epstein Story," posted July 9, 2025, the day after President Trump got irritated by a cabinet-meeting question about Jeffrey Epstein. Daily Wire also cut the same stretch as a short titled "This is NOT at the top of President Trump's priority list." Around 4:47 he said:

“On a list of American priorities by the polls, the Epstein-Maxwell case comes in pretty close to zero, just on a list of priorities.”

  • He added that it was "not that it doesn't matter," and that Trump "is not the president of X." The X post's "Epstein files" is a close paraphrase of "Epstein-Maxwell case." The post drops "by the polls."
  • What he was ranking: He was talking about where the case sits among national priorities, not whether the government should put the files out. He did not name a poll. Two weeks later, the July 25-28, 2025 Economist/YouGov poll asked a different question and got a different answer: 82% said the government should release all the documents it has about the Epstein case, including 76% of Republicans. Navigator Research on July 22 found 57% at least somewhat concerned about the Justice Department's handling of the files, and said that concern was still "eclipsed" by Texas floods, Medicaid, FEMA, and the Middle East.

In plain language:

Yes. On the July 9, 2025 show he said that by the polls the Epstein-Maxwell case comes in pretty close to zero on a list of American priorities. Ranking it as a national priority is not the same as asking whether the files should come out.
