Claim: Was Harvey Levin friends with Jeffrey Epstein?

Verdict: Unsubstantiated.

• The X post from @DschlopesIsBack (July 29, 2026) said Harvey Levin "was/is good friends with Jeffrey Epstein." The released files do not prove that. They also do not disprove it. They only show how Levin's name got in the dump.
• Levin did found TMZ in 2005. That is not evidence of a friendship with Epstein.
• He is named in the January 30, 2026 Justice Department dump. On March 9, 2011, Epstein's hired crisis-PR man Mike Sitrick emailed Epstein that "Harvey Levin, who runs TMZ, is a good friend" and that he "might be able to get him to do something on the Duchess and her backpedaling." Sitrick was writing to Epstein about a reporter Sitrick said was his own friend. That is a Levin-Sitrick claim, not a Levin-Epstein friendship. Official DOJ file EFTA00682303:

• Sitrick was a paid PR vendor. A DOJ file summarizing the engagement letter (EFTA00584325) says "K&E retains Sitrick on behalf of you," effective March 7, 2011, two days before the Levin email, with a $60,000 minimum annual retainer. Later files include Florida litigation captioned Epstein v. Sitrick and Company (EFTA00584061). That is a client-vendor paper trail, not a documented social friendship between Sitrick and Epstein, and it is not a Levin-Epstein friendship.

• The same March 9, 2011 email appears again in a later dump (EFTA01803617). The only other Levin mention reviewed here is a November 29, 2013 Google+ "people you might know" widget in Epstein's inbox (EFTA01141244), listing Levin next to Morgan Spurlock and Larry Page. That is not a friendship with Epstein either. It is also not proof that no friendship ever existed off the page.

Unverified. The files do not show Levin was friends with Epstein. They show Epstein’s PR man calling Levin his own friend. Missing proof is not the same as disproof.
