Tim Walz addressed concerns about his past and questionable statements during a pre-taped interview with himself and Kamala Harris on CNN that aired August 29th, 2024. Despite claiming he “owns his mistakes when he makes them” he went on to say that he will not apologize for “speaking passionately” about guns or reproductive rights. Tim justified his past statements by claiming they were grammatical errors.
… and we can make sure those weapons of war that I carried in war is the only place where those weapons are at.
His grammatical error explanation is below:
… my wife, the English teacher, tells me my grammar is not always correct.
Tim Walz’ family used IUI and not IVF reproductive care.
In an August 19, 2024 interview with Glamour magazine, Tim Walz’ wife said:
Instead, it was a neighbor—a nurse—who would come around to help “with the shots I needed as part of the IUI process.” A teacher, Walz would “rush home from school,” her neighbor would come over, “and she would give me the shots to ensure we stayed on track.”
However, Tim Walz has either directly said they used IVF or have left it ambiguous so that people would believe they used IVF based on his statements.
On Pod Save America on July 30th, 2024 (Episode 905):
… first of all if it was up to him, i wouldn’t have a family because of IVF and the things that we need to do reproductive …
July 25, 2024, on Jen Psaki’s show:
… thank god for IVF, my wife and I have two beautiful children.
Tim Walz IVF explanation during the CNN interview:
I won’t apologize for speaking passionately.
In 1995 Tim Walz was arrested for drunk and reckless driving.
In 2006 Tim Walz’ campaign for his congressional run repeatedly made false statements about the details of the arrest.
According to archived local reporting, a campaign spokesperson provided an untrue excuse for the arrest, pictured below.
His BAC reading at the time was .128.
Between the years 1994 and 1997 the BAC limit in the state he was arrested in was 0.1.
According to the court proceedings, the DWI was amended and plead down to reckless driving, however the involved officer’s report specifically indicates that a strong odor of alcohol was detected and he failed both the field sobriety test, a breath test, as well as a blood test at the station. The officer report also notes a listed speed of 96 MPH in a 55 MPH zone.
The PDFs of the court proceedings and the officer report follow.
