ABC News Producer James Gordon Meek (@meekwire), co-wrote an article with Brian Ross and Megan Christie, titled “Behind #SyriaHoax and the Russian propaganda onslaught”. This article was not about pizzagate and did not debunk the theory, but did contain a line which states:
That hoax story was promoted by a network of Russian social media accounts and ultimately picked up by popular alt-right personalities in the United States, including Mike Cernovich, one of the leading voices in the debunked ‘Pizzagate’ conspiracy theory.
The By line of the article was changed at some point.

In 2023, James Gordon Meek was charged with multiple crimes related to child pornography. He pled guilty to some of them.

On April 29, 2013, ABC News posted an announcement that they were expanding their award-winning investigative unit by bringing on James Gordon Meek and others. Based on the content of the article which quotes their own complete email to staff, James Gordon Meek was brought on in an investigative producer role.
Projects James Gordon Meek worked on were also nominated 4 times, and won 1 time, an Emmy Award according to imdb.
He was also slated to be awarded one of the 2022 Foley Freedom Awards. His specific award was the World Press Freedom Award.
