A suicide bombing took place in Kabul Afghanistan on August 26, 2021, at Hamid Karzai International Airport, which claimed the lives of 13 US servicemen. This took place during the US withdrawal from Afghanistan. Their bodies were brought back to US soil during a dignified transfer ceremony.
The 13 servicemen killed were: Max Soviak, Ryan Knauss, Hunter Lopez, Rylee McCollum, David Espinoza, Kareem Nikoui, Jared Schmitz, Daegan Page, Taylor Hoover, Humberto Sanchez, Johanny Rosario Pichardo, Dylan Merola and Nicole Gee.
In a recorded video of the transfer ceremony taken on August 29, 2021, Joe Biden is on camera participating in the ceremony, and paying his respects by bowing his head and saluting, but is also caught checking his watch during the proceedings.
