On August 15, 2017, Donald Trump answered press questions during a press briefing on infrastructure at Trump Tower in New York. In this question and answer exchange, he was asked about a protest event that featured two different sides of the political spectrum. His comments have been taken out of context repeatedly in the past, specifically the portion which claimed that he said that neo-Nazis and white nationalists were “very fine people”. While he did say that there were “very fine people on both sides”, he was explicitly and specifically referring to not the neo-Nazis, and not the white nationalists, and condemned them totally. His quote regarding this is as follows:
“… and I’m not talking about the neo Nazis and the white nationalists, because they should be condemned totally.”
Many media companies continue to request that Donald Trump condemn white nationalists and neo-Nazis. Below are two videos where he denounces them. The second one is a compilation of him denouncing both groups of people.
